Add metadata Magento 2 is definitely important to a site because it can determine whether a user decides to visit the site or not. That is the reason why in this post, I will provide you with guidance on how to Add metadata Magento 2 store.
I. Default For Your Store
Firstly, make our store default by adding default meta title and meta description for Magento 2 store by following these steps:
Admin panel > Content > Configuration > Global > Edit > HTML Head
1. Open the System, on the left-hand sidebar, you will see “Content” sector, click in and choose “Configuration” under “Design”
2. When Design Configuration is opened, choose Global section and Edit
3. In Global section, choose to open HTML Head
4. In HTML Head, you need to fulfill Default Title, Default Description (compulsory) and other features (optional) with your text with valuable keywords.
Then click “Save Configuration” to end process.
II. Home Page & Other CMS Pages
Add a meta title and meta description to the Home pages and other CMS Pages in your Magento 2 Store by following these steps bellow.
Admin panel > Content > Pages (under Element)
In “Page” sector, you can see a list of all the content managed pages within your Magento 2. Select Global Home and other pages that you want to add metadata then edit one by one.
Under Global Home 1, enable you page in green button and fill in Page title and other sectors including:
- Search Engine Optimisation
- Page in Websites
- Custom Design Update
Search Engine Optimization is where you need to add Meta Title, Meta Keywords and Meta Description for your page to make it more recognizable to the customer.
Then click Save Page button on the right-hand side to end process.
Do the same with other pages that you want to add metadata.
III. Default for your product
Admin panel > Product > Catalog
In “Catalog” section, you will see a list of your all products; click on product(s) that you want to add metadata
After filling in basic information for your product, dragging to Search Engine Optimization; here, you need to complete URL Key, Meta Title, Meta Keywords and Meta Description as required.
Then click Save button to end process.
IV. Default for Categories
Admin Panel > Product > Categories
In “Categories” section, you will add your Category Name and open “Search Engine Optimization” and then add Meta Title, Meta Keywords and Meta Description for your category.
