Like Quickstart installation, installing a new language on your Magento site requires some certain steps. In the below part, Venusthemes will explain how to install any kind of languages in detail. Please follow these steps carefully.

1. Download the desired languages on Magentocommerce

• Go to http://www.magentocommerce.com/and then search the name of a new language pack, e.g. ‘Italian language pack’.
• On the next page, click Install Now. Check “I agree to the extension license agreement” and choose Get Extension Key. You should be registered on the site to follow these steps.
• When you are already logged in, click the “Select key” button and then copy the key

2. Install new language

• Log into admin panel and go to System -> Magento Connect -> Magento Connect Manager.

• On the next page, under Extensions -> Install New Extensions -> Paste extension key to install paste the url you copied and click Install >> click Proceed.

• When you see the “cache cleaned successfully” message, open the Magento dashboard again.

• Next, Go to System -> Manage Stores.

• Click Create store view and fill all the field like the below image. Next, Click Save Store view

• Once again, go to the top menu System -> Configuration.

• In Current Configuration Scope, choose Italian.

• Under General -> Locale Options -> Locale select Italian (Italy) >>Click Save Config.

• Go to the top menu System -> Design, Click Add Design Change at the top right.

• Under General Settings select Italian for Score and your current themefor Custom Design>> Save

Notice: Please make sure to clear the cache before trying to use your new language.

Now when you can go to the frontend of the site, you’ll see a dropdown menu allowing the language switching.
